Cari Searcy

Cari Searcy is a dedicated advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and an accomplished media professional with over 25 years of experience as a video producer. A pivotal figure in the fight for equality, Cari gained national recognition as the plaintiff in the landmark case Searcy vs. Strange, which ultimately led to the legalization of same-sex marriage in Alabama in January 2015. This historic ruling was the culmination of her decade-long legal battle to secure parental rights for her son, resulting in significant advancements for same-sex families throughout the state and contributing to the removal of Judge Roy Moore from his post as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.
In addition to her groundbreaking legal work, Cari is deeply committed to community service. She has served on the boards of Equality Alabama, Rainbow Mobile, Family Equality Council, Centers for Spiritual Living and Mobile United. A proud graduate of the Leadership Mobile class of 2019, she exemplifies dedication to leadership and advocacy within her community.
